ALAN COX, a project director with
TIP, brings extensive experience in economic research and analysis
with particular strengths in industry cluster analysis, target
industry identification, demographic research, and real estate and
retail needs analysis. Prior to joining TIP Strategies, Mr. Cox was
a partner with Civic Economics, an economic analysis and strategic
planning firm. In addition, Mr. Cox previously served as Director of
Research for AngelouEconomics where he coordinated research in
support of economic development and real estate analysis
activities.
Mr. Cox has developed
economic impact and forecasting models for a diverse clientele. Studies conducted by Mr. Cox
include assessing the economic impact of major corporations, plant
expansions, tourism-related events, and pending legislation. In
addition, Mr. Cox has created models accurately forecasting
employment and demographic trends for local communities,
multi-county regions, and states.
Mr. Cox also formerly
served as a Labor Market Analyst for the Texas Workforce Commission,
where he produced state and local employment estimates in addition
to monitoring the potential impacts of on-going economic events.
While earning his graduate degree, Mr. Cox was a research associate
at Diana McIver & Associates, a consulting firm specializing in
the development of affordable housing.
Mr. Cox received an
M.S. in Community and Regional Planning form the University of Texas
at Austin. His graduate curriculum emphasized economic
development and physical planning. His final report offered a
comprehensive downtown revitalization program that studied its
potential impact on the economic development efforts of the
community. Mr. Cox graduated Magna cum Laude from Texas Tech
University with a B.A. in French and minors in German and
International
Studies.
